The new Telethon Juvenile Diabetes Family Centre is the first of it’s kind in Australia. To provide support to children and their family’s living with Type 1 diabetes. Due to the absence of any support facilities for families coping with diabetes, Telethon provided a vision of a community hub.
ZMH was commissioned to design the Centre that would provide clinical care and education for families in a relaxed, homely environment away from a hospital setting. The building consists of 6 clinical rooms, children’s play area, adolescents lounge, kitchen, workshop and seminar area along with meeting and board rooms. Overall the form of the building and roof is curvilinear to capture natural light and views to the gardens.
